Michael Kadish
Michael Kadish is a policy and political professional with over two decades of experience in climate policy, political and advocacy campaigns and nonprofit management. He is a leader in on solar policy, environmental justice, clean energy access and workforce development.
As a Founding Partner at Insight Power, he works with national nonprofit organizations and renewable energy companies to advance thoughtful and inclusive climate solutions around the United States on both the state and national level. His work has been centered on advancing community and distributed solar, promoting utility reform and advancing equity in electric vehicle adoption.
As GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles (GLA)’s Executive Director for seven years, Michael expanded the program to make solar power and job training available to underserved communities across Southern California, overseeing hundreds of solar installations each year. He also launched a workforce development program that helped to secure over 650 jobs in the solar industry for veterans, women, at risk youth and the formerly incarcerated, and he created GLA’s solar programs for multifamily affordable housing and for mission aligned nonprofit facilities.
Previously, Michael worked in Director level positions at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and in local government in New York City, as well as on the 2008 Obama campaign among others and at Terrapass, a venture funded carbon offset retailer. As an advocate, Michael’s work includes the successful passage of clean energy legislation on both the local and federal levels.
Michael is a past Board President of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters and a founding Board Member of GRID Alternatives Greater Los Angeles. In 2017, Michael was awarded the first LG Solar Community Champion Award by the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2018, under his leadership Grid LA was awarded USGBC -LA’s Non-Profit of the year and the Green Leadership Award by the LA County Board of Supervisors. Michael holds a BA in History with honors from Columbia University and a Masters degree in Public Policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
